Guests’ private space now much more accessible thanks to HTML5!

Joomeo is continuing to evolve and develop. Now that public albums et public spaces, have gone online, it’s the turn of guests’ private space to be updated!

Les espaces invités en HTML5

Thanks to HTML5-based spaces, your contacts no longer need a Joomeo app installed on their smartphone or tablet in order to access and see the things you share. Just a simple click on the invitation is all it takes to open up your space in their chosen browser. It’s simpler and faster, enabling your invitees to more easily enjoy the things you share.

Our iOS and Android apps are still fully operational and usable in case your contacts want to add any files to your albums.

So far, it has not been possible for your contacts to enjoy the benefits of our photo lab on their iPhones or iPads. Thanks to our new HTML5-based spaces, however, ordering prints of your photos (or any other product in our catalogue, with the exception of photo books) can now be achieved in the blink of an eye from any tablet or smartphone!

You’ve responded very positively to the design adopted for public spaces and albums, so we’ve therefore opted to use the same graphic style to showcase your images in the guests’ private space.

Completely adaptable to screens of all sizes and resolutions, the display and presentation of the guests’ private space is intuitive and allows for fluid, rapid navigation. Your contacts will love it!

By default, your guests can access your private spaces directly in HTML5. However, you can decide not to use this new feature and instead retain the “classic” functionality of your Joomeo space.

You can set this option for all your contacts in your Joomeo account preferences:

Or just for certain contacts:

Your visitors can also choose to view your space in its classic version by clicking the “ADVANCED MODE” option.

Classic mode currently offers certain advantages, which is why we refer to it as “ADVANCED MODE”:
1- Import of files into your albums.
2- Preservation of advanced contact rights.
3- The ability to add photo books to the shopping cart.

Table of the features available in each mode:

Photo viewing
Video viewing
Slideshow viewing mode
Slideshow sound
Files importing ADVANCED MODE(1)
Ordering from the photo lab
Photo book ordering ADVANCED MODE(1)
Add comments to photos
Access to Joomeo stores

(1) Advanced mode on Mac/PC is currently required for these operations, though they will soon be available in the HTML5 version too!

Want to see a private space in the new format? No problem. Simply click this button after first making a note of the login and password below:

This development represents a new stage for Joomeo. The full range of features and functions available in advanced mode will soon also be available in HTML5. The final stage will be to migrate the various spaces in the main control interface to HTML.

But let’s not jump the gun! We are currently working on providing new features in the public and private spaces, such as the ability for authorized visitors to import files into your albums.

A mouthwatering prospect isn’t it? So, to ensure you are able to take full advantage of our upcoming new features and developments, consider subscribing to our newsletters and following us on social networks!

Joomeo Public Spaces, sharing without limits

Joomeo is one of the world’s most comprehensive photo and video sharing platforms. We have always primarily focussed on private sharing requiring mandatory visitor identification via a login name and password, and this is what our reputation is founded on.

With PUBLIC SPACES, Joomeo makes it possible for you to provide an open door to specific albums of your choice, enabling you to promote your video and photography talents across the entire world and not just to your contacts!

Joomeo Public Spaces, sharing without limits

What are public spaces for?

Public spaces enable you to collect all your public albums (?) together on a single page that can be accessed by anybody just like an ordinary webpage or online blog.

Modern, user-friendly and ergonomic in design, public spaces are accessible via all web-enabled devices using simple everyday browsers. Additionally, no user identification is required to enjoy access to shared photos and videos!

Some new features you are really going to love!

Public spaces are not the only new development! They come accompanied by a number of improvements to public albums (?) that you are sure to really appreciate! ;-)

  • FULL-SCREEN mode to enable large-scale display of your photos or videos!
Available on PCs/laptops, smartphones and tablets, full-screen mode is the best way to really show off the potential of your most impressive images with just a simple click.
  • Slideshow mode is now available.
Visitors who want to simply sit back and view your photos without having to keep clicking all the time will be able to launch a slideshow display of the album of their choice and enjoy watching it in full-screen mode if they wish.

Furthermore, our subscribers also have the option of adding music to their albums to enhance their slideshow displays.

And it of course goes without saying that videos can also be played in slideshows.

  • Your visitors will be able to share your albums in slideshow mode directly from your albums’ sharing functions. This is an excellent way to promote your work and increase the virality of each and everyone of your photos and videos.

And added to all this are plenty of other new features that we’ll let you discover by yourselves.

How do public spaces work?

Using public spaces really is simplicity itself!

  1. Activating your public space: This step is carried out in the “MY PROFILE” section of your Joomeo account.
You will find a button enabling you to activate your public space just below your private space address. All you have to do is click it.
The process is instantaneous and the address of your public space will immediately appear.

    Your Joomeo account profile page

  2. Sharing your public space: Access your public space by clicking the link that appeared after it was activated then use the social network sharing buttons to distribute it to your community.

  3. You can even insert a link to your public space in your blog, in a forum, or anywhere else where it’s possible to share links by copying the appropriate link from the “Page actions” menu.

Joomeo public albums

It’s a tiny modification to the interface of your Joomeo space but a major advance in the world of sharing possibilities offered by our platform! public albums designed to make sharing easier

What do public albums give you?

In introducing public albums, Joomeo is providing you with a new way to share and really get the most out of your photos and videos.
The following is a non-exhaustive list of the various advantages they provide:

They can be accessed using any browser and do not require the installation of any additional app or plugin (they are displayed via a simple HTML page).
Their elegant design adapts to all types of screens to really show off your photos and videos at their best (responsive design).
Photo loading is optimised to ensure rapid display at the highest possible quality for the user’s screen.
A simple link enables you to share your public album however you choose via, for example, social networks, blogs and forums.
No user identification is required to view your public album, making it an excellent tool for promoting your talents!

And that’s not all. We’ve added a series of options designed to make it easy to virally distribute your creations!

  • With these buttons, the process of sharing on the main social networks is made simplicity itself.
  • With this button, all you need to do is copy the html code for your chosen image to integrate it into to a web page, a forum or a blog at the right size and begin promoting your work!
  • The button enables downloading of the image’s original source file. It only appears if you check the “Allow original format for the direct link” in the public link manager.

How does it work?

As usual, it’s very simple and easy!

  1. Go to your Joomeo space.
  2. Choose the album you want to share using this new function.
  3. Click the “ACTION” button and choose the “Public link to the album” option.
  4. And that’s it. All that remains for you to to do is simply follow the rest of the process!

In the window that opens up, simply select and copy the link that best corresponds to how you want to publish your public album (blogs, social networks, forums, etc.).

Did you notice? At the top of the window there is a checkbox. It enables you to authorise or prohibit downloading of the original files by your visitors. Isn’t that a convenient feature?

NB: As their name suggests, public albums are accessible WITHOUT USER IDENTIFICATION!

Any web user with access to the album’s URL can see your photos and videos and download them if you have checked the “Allow file downloading” option in the public link manager.

We therefore recommend adopting a careful approach when choosing the albums you want to use this function with on Joomeo.

Did you know? Share the contents of your folders in a single step

Joomeo was created to make photo and video sharing easier, so to help you share albums to a folder (and its subfolders) more quickly, we have developed an incredibly easy system…
Drag your contact or group of contacts into a folder to share everything in it with them.

Just a simple drag and drop to share everything!

To share the entire contents of a folder in a single step, simply choose a contact in your contacts book (“TOOLS” menu) and drag it to your folder, plain and simple!

It also works with A GROUP OF CONTACTS! Select the group of contacts you want, and drag it straight to a folder. All of the folder’s albums will be shared to each member of the group.

Easy and convenient!

Important: when using this method, the sharing preferences you have chosen for each contact are used. If no particular preference was determined for some of your contacts, the default preferences defined on the “MY ACCOUNT” page will be applied.

Did you know? Manage your import preferences

Have you noticed that you can set some default settings upon importing your files in your Joomeo space?

These settings are adjusted in the “Import” area of the “PREFERENCES” section in your Joomeo account, and they might allow you to save some precious time!

Here’s what it looks like, and what it’s used for!

This dropdown menu alows you to manage the size of your image preview. We recommend that you keep the default settings, i.e. HDTV 1080. This will make all displays easiest to view.

By checking this box, which is available on FOCUS offers and higher, you decide to apply a watermark to all files imported to your Joomeo space.
The options just below it allow you to customize the text*, its position in the image, the color, and the intensity of the watermark.

This option allows you to automatically display the IPTC information caption embedded into your files in the Joomeo caption area.

With this option, each file name appears in the Joomeo caption area, if there is no IPTC caption.

By importing the keywords that you have added to your files’ IPTC data, you supply the keyword manager of your space, making searching and selecting files in your library easier.

By checking this option, you can avoid storing the same images twice in the same album. A valuable tool to help you manage your library better.

*Option available on DYNAMIC offers and higher
